Puzzle hints and solution
Hint 1
The text mentions the ‘most common glyph’. That will be key to solving the puzzle.
Hint 2
A glyph here refers to a letter of the alphabet. What’s the most commonly-used letter in English?
Hint 3
The most common glyph in English (or Anglophone ‘Common’ in-game) is the letter E. The note tells you to discard all the words except those containing the letter E.
Hint 4
The words that contain an E spell out: Answer lies one before five
Solution
Reading only the words containing an E gives you the message: Answer lies one before five. The number that comes one before five is four.
The adventurers should choose door number 4.
